GRIFFITHS WINS 100 AT TE AWAMUTU Special to TIIE SUN • te AWAMUTU, Today. A 220yds handicap swim for Noel Ryan, Australian distance champion, at the Te Awamutu Swimming Club’s carnival last evening was practically a practice. The opposition was slight, and Ryan finished the course in 2m 40 s. It was Ryan’s birthday yesterday and he received a presentation at tea held in the afternoon. In the 100yds, Owen Griffiths (New South Wales) gave away starts up to 6s. He won by a touch from Hall (Cambridge), South Auckland champion this year, and Adams (Te Awamutu), former champion, was third The time was 645. The Australians were welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. C. G. Townes.
