THAMES NOTES
The confirmation service at St. George’s Anglican Church, Thames, was largely attended. Fifty candidates were confirmed. Archbishop Averill conducted the service, and made feeling reference to the death of Bishop Clears", which had taken place that day. After the confirmation service the archdeacon was entertained at a social function in the parish hall. * * # The talkies have been installed at Thames. The proprietor of the King’s Theatre, Mr. Baden Chapman, has secured a Western Electric talking machine. Mr. Chapman is having extensive alterations made to the theatre, and it is his aim to run the talkies on the same scale as the leading picture shows of the cities.
