RYDER'S TEAM STILL NEEDS 36 TO WIN TEST TRIAL AT SYDNEY United P.A. —Bp Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, Tuesday. The test trial cricket match was continued today in cooler weather. There were 4,000 spectators. Ryder’s team had made 663 in the first innings, and Woodfull’s team had made 309, and in the second innings 341 for two wickets yesterday. McCabe made 46, Marks 14, Horrocks 5, Whitfield 19, Oxenham 4, Walker 9, Jackson 15, Alexander 8, Ponsford 8 not out, Ryder 9 not out. There were 15 extras. The wicket showed signs of wear. Bradman showed restraint and was unhappy when facing Grimmett, who was particularly dangerous. Bradman went out leg-before-wicket when he had added 20 runs to his overnight total. Kippax played Grimmett carefully, but hit the other bowlers freely. He rendered valuable help to his side. He gave two difficult chances. Allsopp again failed with the bat, Rigg. was unable to get going. The remainder of the side went cheaply. Ryder’s team, with 188 to make "to win, began the second innings late in the afternoon. As an experiment Ryder tried using the colts first, but the deadly bowling of Blackie and Hornibrook accounted for them one after another at brief intervals, until the rot was stopped by Ryder and Ponsford.
