Hogan, chief traffic officer, appeared for the city traffic department. * • * Street Collections Finality in regard to the question of street collections, was reached at a. conference of local bodies held at Onehunga on Monday. Ot.ihuhu, Birkenhead, and Northoote Borough Councils, and the Mount Roskill and One Tree Hill Road Boards. * * * Schoolboy’s Death The adjourned inquest on the death of Arthur Desmond Whitley, a schoolboy, aged 14, was concluded before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, this afternoon. The boy, whose parents live at 9 Vincent Avenue Remuera. was struck by a cricket ball when playing on a paddock adjoining the Remuera School on December 2. He was batting when a ball rose sharply ard struck him on the head. After walking home he complained of pains in the head and his mother called in Dr. J. H. Lawry, who said tho boy was suffering from concussion. He died at 1.30 a.m. on the following day. Dr. R. E. Be van- Brown said th€*. cause of death was cerebral compression and laceration following a fracture of the skull, and haemor rhage. A verdict of accidental death was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
