WESTFIELD STOCK SALE WESTFIELD, 2.30 p.m. An aggregate yarding of approximately 373 steers, and 313 cows and heifers, met steady demand at the Westfield fat stock sale today. Late rates were easily maintained, best ox beef making to 42s a hundred, best cow and Tieifer to 39s a hundred. The offering was drawn from over a comparatively wide range, North Auckland _graziers contributing more than •(■■•usual quota. The quality generally was well up to that of late >a!es, medium-weight sorts again predominating and meeting with a steady demand from butchers. Top price of the day was secured for a line of big-framed heavy bullocks on account Chus. Stewart, Ohinewai, which made up to £l7 7s 6d for a per. which went to T. Raster, Ponsonby. The line of eight averaged £1« 12s. One truck of medium-weight steers on account A. Martin, Pukekohe, averaged £l4. Fifteen medium-weight steers on account Jas. Slater, Tuakau, averaged [£l4 11s Bd. Two trucks of rather well done medium to heavy-weight steers, on account C. E. Sampson, Waerenga, averiiged £l4 15s 4d. • One truck on account Thos. Murray, Tuakau, averaged £l4 10s. Ten well-finished medium-framed steers on account E. Allen, Cambridge, averaged £l4 6s. Seventeen big-framed steers on account P. Corbett, Hikutaia, averaged £l6 7s. Twelve choice quality heavy prime steers on account H. E. Reed, Waerenga, averaged £ls 17s 6d. Seven Bay of Plenty steers pn account U. E. Grieve, To Puke, averaged £ls. Thirty medium-weight steers on account F. A. Price, Papatoetoe, averaged £l3 17s 6d. One truck on account W. Alley, Hikutaia, averaged £l4 Bs. A truck of choice quality heavy Prime steers on account Towers Estate, Matamata, averaged £ls. The offering for cows and heifers met with a steady demand. There few lines of outstanding quality, the biggest part of the yarding being made up of the usual dairy sorts. Ordinary heavy prime cows and heifers made up to £11; medium, £7 ®s; small and light, from *6; unfinished, from £4 10s. The calf market registered a slightly easier tone. Extra choice prime vealers made to £6 6s; ordinary heavy Ve^ ers> runners made to £B. To a certain extent, no doubt attracted by the fact that next week’s has been postponed until the Fri- ’ there was a very heavy yarding of sneep. The offering of lambs comprising approximately 750 was the biggest the season. A start was not made ° n the sheep until after 2.30 p.m.
