APPEAL FOR CO-ORDINATION OF EFFORT ANNUAL MEETING HELD “One of the brightest spots of the year’s activities has been the advertising convention. The members threw themselves enthusiastically into it and the executive feels that it has started a line of activity which will be helpful not only to members, but also to the business community generally,” said Mr. G. C. Codlin, who presided at the annual meeting of the Auckland Advertising Club, held last evening. In continuing his review of the year, Mr. Codlin said it had been a very satisfactory one from the point of view of membership and the club’s activities. In all, 27 new members had joined. The suggestion that some co-ordina-tion of effort might be advantageous to the club and others, was made by Mr. Codlin. He felt that a tremendous amount of time and energy was being expended by citizens in connection with the various clubs, all with good objects, in which there must necessarily be a certain amount of overlapping. A number of organisations had been called recently into being and he thought that if there were some coordination of effort it would be much better for them all. If there were a larger organisation embracing the activities of the various bodies in existence they would accomplish more by having greater strength. He did not see why the Auckland Advertising Club, the Creditmen’s Association, the Tourist League and various others should not be definitely linked together. The Chamber of Commerce, as the parent body, should be capable of taking charge of them, with a separate chairman in charge of each unit. The Clinkard Cup, awarded annually to the member who was considered to have done the best work for the club during the year, was presented to Mr. F. "W. Petterd, the retiring vice-presi-dent. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £94, against which there were commitments which reduced the actual amount available to £57 12s 9d. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. F. E. Levy; vice-presi-dent, Mr. "W. H. V. Taine; secretary, Mr. Grey Campbell; treasurer, Mr. George Finn: executive, Messrs. F. W. Petterd, G. C. Codlin, P. J. Goldfinch, K. Manly, R. J. Strong, L. J. Greenfield and C. L. Rollo.
