MISSING FROM WALTON FOR TEN DAYS TELEGRAM NOT FORWARDED Mr. Arthur William Wood, the Walton farmer who has been missing for ten days, has been traced. It appears that through the failure of a friend to send a telegram which was handed to him for transmission Mr. Wood’s family was not informed of a change in his plans, and it was not known that he was engaged in the purchase of a farm. Mr. Wood came to Auckland on Wednesday, November 27, to see the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and was last seen in Newmarket on the following Saturday, when he stated that he intended to catch a train for Rotorua to return to his home. Before the train reached Papakura Mr. Wood was taken ill, and he left the train there, giving a man at the hotel where he stayed a telegram to send to his family, telling them of the position. The telegram was never received and great anxiety was caused to Mr. Wood’s relatives. After remaining at the hotel for a few days, Mr. Wood was able to leave his bed and he inspected a number of farms in both the Papakura district and in the 'Waikato. When he was seen at Morrinsville, which is only a few miles from Walton, on Saturday, he was told that his relatives thought he was missing. Mr. Wood at once took steps to get in touch with his family.
