SITE QUESTION BEING ADVANCED “BY NO MEANS HOPELESS” The establishment of a faculty of fine arts is stiil being sought by the council of the Auckland. University College, which decided yesterday afternoon again to advance the question to the Minister of Education,*the Hon. H. Atmore. A suitable site for the faculty, in the view of the council, is the old Grammar School site. The meeting received a communication from the Auckland Grammar School Board saying it sympathised with the council in its efforts to obtain a site for the faculty. The board agreed to part with the property in exchange for sies of equal value. The position has been considered by the library committee of the City Council. which is interested in the project. Mr. J. S. Brigham, the Town Clerk, wrote to the University Council asking that he be kept advised of further developments. ••We intend to keep in touch with the library committee." said Sir George Fowlds. chairman of the council, in addressing the meeting. “It is hoped that we can make joint representations to the Minister. We have had approval from previous Ministers on the question. In any case, I presume that tile department will have to provide additional sites. The position is by no means hopeless yet." Further representations are to be made to the Minister.
