ELLERINGTON CHALLENGE SHIELD From Oar Own Correspondent WAIHI, Today. The competition for the Ellerington Challenge Shield was continued on the Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon, when the second match between the holder (Mataura) and Martha was completed and resulted in a three-point win for Mataura by nine wickets and 14 runs. Martha totalled S 9 in its second innings, Coward knocking up the top score of 26, which included four boundaries and a sixer. Roberts, 25, and L Henderson, 11, also showed good form with the bat. Mjataura’sbowling was again m,ost consistent, M. Zenovieh accounting for four wickets at a cost of only eight runs. Mataura, requiring 65 runs to secure a threepoint win, attained its objective with the loss of only one wicket and had 14 runs to the good. B. Littlefair, who went in first with Toms, knocked up 42 not out, the partnership returning a total of 58 runs. Thornton, not out at 21, played a careful innings and effectively punished the loose ones. Bowling for Mataura, M. Zenovieh took four wickets for eight runs, Leopold three for 27, Henry two for 39 and Littlefair one for 11.
