Mine Worker’s Death Mr. Thomas Allsopp. check weigh - man at the Glen Afton Collieries, died suddenly at Huntly this morning. He has been ailing for some time. He was formerly a well-known Soccer footballer. + • • Motor Truck on Fire A motor-truck, owned by Mr. I Spry, was damaged by tiro on the New North Road at 6 o’clock this morjiing. The Mount Albert FirBrigade answered the call and confined the damage to the wiring and th* engine with chemicals. It is believed that the fire was caused by fusing. Presbytery Approves Calls The Christchurch Presbytery tod.iv approved of the call by the fcAndrew’s congregation to the Rev. J. Lawson Robinson, of Invercargill, an l also of the call by the Cashmere con gregation to the Rev. John Hubbard, of Auckland. —P.A. Fire at Wairoa Fire broke out in the workroom Kendrick’s tailoring premises at Wairoa late last night. The brigade quickly extinguished the outbreak ami the damage was confined to the work - loom. It is believed that an electric iron was left on.—P.A.
