INFIRMARY PATIENTS CHEERED

HOSPITAL AUXILIARY Christmas cheer abounded in the Auckland Infirmary, Epsom, on Saturday afternoon, when the members of the Onehunga branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary organised a treat for the inmates. Among those present were Air. W. J. Jordan, AI.P. for Alanukau; the Alayor and Alayoress of Onehunga, Air. Edward and Aliss Edna Alorton; Airs. Alfred Kfdd. president of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, and several members of the Hospital Board. The entertainment took the form of musical items and afternoon tea and was thoroughly appreciated by all. Aliss Alay Judd’s orchestra played selections in the large dining hall from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., while the Onehunga Citizens’ Band played on the adjoining lawn. A large contingent of ATiss Aileen Beresford’s pupils met with enthusiastic receptions as they danced, sang and recited in the different wards. . -A- feature of the programme was the singing of Aliss Laura Walker, whose voluntary services were highly appreciated. Airs. Osborne played the accompaniment. On behalf of the Onehunga branch of the auxiliary, the president. Airs. T. J. G. Neil], presented to the inmates of the women’s T.B. shelter*, the nucleus of a library, consisting of 122 new modern books. The success or* the function was largely due to Airs. C. E. Hankins* who arranged for the catering, which included a plentiful supply of strawberries and cream; to Airs. A r al Kirk for her attractive table decorations, and to Airs. John Chapman, secretary to the branch, for her efficient general organisation.
