Bright Evening at Ca baret-by-the-Sea A large number of dancers assembled jat Dixieland Cabaret on Saturday | evening, to enjoy the delightful dance i music provided by Mr. Harry Noilson j and his Dixieland Dance Band. SALE OF WORK

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH GUILD NORTHCOTE FUNCTION A combined sale of work, garden fete and grand concert was held on Saturday in the spacious grounds of Air. J. Hay, “Calliope,” Onewa Road, Northcote, in aid of the funds for the new Presbyterian Church. The fete was opened by Air. A. Harris, AI.P. for 'YVaitemata, who regretted the inclement weather prevailing, but wished the workers every success in their laudable effort. The Hon. A. J. Stall worthy, Alinister of Health, who arrived later on in the afternoon, also briefly addressed those present, and stressed the work of the church in the community. Stall-holders were:—‘Sewing* stall: Airs. Alorrison, sen., and assistants. Children’s stall: Miss D. Tremain and Sunday School class. Sweet stalls: Airs. AlcLane and assistants. Soft drinks and ice cream: the Alisses Couldrey and assistants. Fish pond: Airs. Morrison, jun. Cake stall: Airs. Brodie and Airs. Robertson. Christmas gifts and novelties: Mrs. AlcNab and assistants. Produce stall: Air. AlcNab and assistants. Games and side-shows: Air. Boswell and assistants. A feature of the afternoon’s programme was the presence of the Auckland Highland Pipe Band, who gave selections of marches and reels, while sword dancing and Highland flings were performed by members of the Auckland Highland and National Dancing Association. Aliss Patricia Boyle gave, in character, the song and dance entitled “Tin Can Parade.” Ebba Gunman gave a grand concert as follows:—Chorus, “Laugh and Grow Fat,” children; song, selected, the little ones; song, “Honey Chile,” girls; part song, "Larboard Watch,” boys; song and chorus, “Will o’ the Wisp,” Miss Joyce Howland. Solos were given by Alasters Ivan Dunn, Douglas Broady, Norman Dunn, Ray Johnston and Allan Horsman. Recitations: Miss Peggy Brennan, Heather Crawford and Jack Gunman. The accompanist was Airs. A.
