ANCIENT TIMBER
MOUNT EDEN TURNERY Fobr- thousand years ago, when the Babylonian and Egyptian Empires were in the height of their glory, tefrific volcanic eruptions buried a wonderful forest at Arapuni. Quite recently the hydro-electric scheme in that interesting locality has exposed this ancient timber, which is now being skilfully fashioned at the Mount Eden Turnery, 80 Mount Eden Road, into vases, cake stands, powder boxes, tobacpo jars, pin trays, egg cups, serviette rings, paper knives, walking sticks, electric light stands, tea trays, fruit bowls, etc. These and similar articles, made in other New Zealand woods, make souvenirs of a very unique character.
