SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICE
MORE NURSES FOR CITY AREA
MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT Press Associatio)b WELLINGTON, Today. There will be considerable extension of the school dental service throughout the Auckland City area next year, the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. .J. Stallworthy, having advised Auckland members that in addition to the school dental nurse, allocated to Devonport one will be sent to Birkenhead, as from next March. Nurses have also been allocated to the Ellerslie, Manurewa and Mount Eden group of schools. The 40 additional nurses who complete their training at the training school, Wellington, in March, have been allocated to various parts of the Dominion. The Minister has made a definite effort to extend the service as far as possible to country children. Last week he arranged for 26 countryschools to be linked up with the system in a district that hitherto had presented considerable difficulty. Both in the North and the South Island, the Minister made personal investigations to ensure the fairest decisions in the matter of allocations among a large number of applications.
