TRADE UNION PICNIC
PAINTERS’ SUCCESSFUL OUTING The Auckland Painters* Union held their picnic at Pine Island last weekend under favourable weather conditions. The attendance, considering the threatening conditions prevailing in the early morning, was good, about 800 being present. The arrangements were in the bonds of a capable committee, and Mr. H. Campbell, the secretary of the union. The results of the athletic events were as follow: Apprentices’ Handicap, 120yds. —H. Simpson, 1; C. Hartford, 2; O. Wakefield, Open Event, 100yds.—C. Kellett, 3; J. Carter, 2: A. Koburn, 3. Single Ladies’ Race, 75yds.—Miss DReynolds. 1; Miss F. Willett, 2; Miss d« Thierry, 3. Single Men’s Race, 100yds.—C. Kellett, 1; J. Carter, 2; A. Koburn, 3. Married Radies* Race, 50yds.—Mrs. E. Halle tt, 1; Mrs. T. Bermingham. 2; Mrs. A. Ellison, 3. Married Men’s Race, 75yds.—H. Ellison* 1; M. Wiley, 2; C. Clark, 2. Old Buffers’ Thread and Needle Race.—Mrs. I "Wiley and C. Kellett. Married Ladies, Over 40, 75yds. —Mrs. W. Hartford and Mrs. E. Butterflfi* dead-heat; Mrs. T. Jackson. 3.
