GETTING ON THE MAP

BUSY CZECHO SLOVAKIA AUCKLANDER’S TOUR “Czechoslovakia is a wonderful country and will get itself on tile map as far as manufacturing is concerned,” said Mr. T. A. Low, managing director of Northern Automobiles. Air. Low returned to Auckland yesterday by the Niagara with Mrs. Low, after an extensive tour of the United States, England and the Continent of Europe. He was the only representative. of the Auckland Rotary' Club at the big i Rotary convention at Dallas, in the United States, and after attending that he went pn his world tour. Continuing his observations about Czeclio-Slovakia, he said that the country’s manufactured products were well-marketed. In Prague there was. a former palace now known as the Sample Fair Palace. Fairs of samples were held here every six months. The palace contained thousands of rooms, and was maintained by the manufacturers from the whole country. In the palace, too, every major language o,f the world could be interpreted and inquirers were quickly put into touch ’with any individual manufacturer they' yvanted. By means of this palace the country yvas building up a wonderful trade overseas. Mr. Low said that travelling on the Continent of Europe was much better than it used to be. Germany had some wonderful de luxe trains, all of which had been built since the war. In England, Mr. and Mrs. Low motored between 4,000 and 5,000 miles. There was an air of prosperity in England, said Mr. Low, though it was impossible for him to give a considered opinion after such a hurried visit. He saw more news about New Zealand in the American papers than in English ones, and in England he did not see a great deal of publicity for the Dominion. Speaking of the Rotary Convention at Dallas, Mr. Low said that it was a wonderfully organised shoyv. Dallas was only' a little bigger than Auckland, and yet the 9,000 visiting Rotarians and their friends were easily' accommodated.
