Schoolboy Fatally Hurt by Cricket Ball

DEATH THIS MORNING Struck by a cricket ball after school yesterday afternoon, Arthur Desmond Whitley, aged 14, of Remuera, received injuries from which he died early this morning. The lad, who was a pupil of Remuera School, was playing with companions,, and was struck on the head with a fast-travelling ball. He was found to be hurt, and on removal to his home was attended by Dr, J. Howard Lawry, but died early this morning. The boy -was the only son of Mr. R. S. Whitley, of “Arohanui,” 9 Vincent Avenue, Remuera. An inquest will be held.
