Batsmen’s True Form
SUBURBAN GAMES AT DOMAIN
Bright Bowling Performances
BETTER-CLASS batsmen, were able to reveal their trna form on fast and perfectly-conditioned wickets in tlisecond scries of the Suburban Association's competition matches on the Domain on Saturday. While there were some bright, solid-scoring hatting exhibitions, at least two surprising coups went to the credit of the howlers.
The outstanding batting partnership of the day was the Harbour Board veterans, Dunning and Breesc, who put 011 over a century for the first wicket against Albion. Mastering tho bowling early, both men flogged it unmercifully on both sides of the wicket.
Honours for the quickest scoring innings easily went to the Ellerslie batsman, Holliss, who rattled on runs
at a terrific pace, topping his team s score with 71. His team mate, Yates, knocked up 60 in good style. Green Lane was placed in a good position against W.Y.M.1., by the bright efforts of Wroatli 60, Clarke 52 and Paxton 42.
A remarkable bowling performance was staged by Robertshaw, of Ponsonby, in capturing seven Ellerslie wickets for 28. He completely demoralised the opposing team’s tail. The Harbour Board trundler, Matthews, was also in splendid form, sending seven Albion batsmen back to the pavilion at a cost of 53 runs.
