“JOURNEY’S END” On several occasions the cast of “Journey’s End” was given,great ovations by a packed liouse at the conclusion of Saturday night’s performance. Each individual member of the company came in for his full mead of praise, and deserved every bit of the enthusiastic reception, for rarely lias such splendid acting on the part of the members of any one company been witnessed. . Therein lies the secret of this war play, and it is small wonder that critics and the average run of theatregoers wax enthusiastic. It is a war play with its thrills, pathos and study of human nature without the morbid aspect, and it is all the better for that omission. The whole story is confined to one setting, that of the dugout of comanpy headquarters, with tiie company commander and his platoon officers, all of whom finally make the great sacrifice. It is a graphic story, even if the picture of the nerve-torn and war-weary captain is perhaps a bit overdrawn: but it serves its purpose, and provides great scope for some wonderful acting. "Journev’s End” should continue to attract big houses for the remainder of its season here.
