READY FOR USE

NEW RAILWAY LINK TO DARGAVILLE TANGOWAHINE SECTION FINISHED The section of railway line from Kirikopuni to Tangowahine is ready for use. Very shortly now Dargaville will be joined to the main north system of line, via Waiotira Junction. The Kirikopuni-Tangowaliine section has been hurried with the object of having the line ready for use during the wool season, with the result that all this season’s wool, produce and manures will be taken over it. There are 10£ miles in the new section, and within a few days trains will be officially running over it. The Commerce Train, when it travels in the North, will pass over the line. Tangowahine will now be the terminus for Dargaville. The whole of the formation of the remainder of the line to Dargaville has been completed, though there has been some trouble with subsidences in one or two areas near the Northern Wairoa River. However, the engineers are overcoming the trouble, and in a short time a start will be made with laying the permanent way. The Waiotira Junction-Ivirikopuni line has proved an expensive proposition for the Government, and the continuation of the line which will eventually link Dargaville with the rest of the main system, has been only slightly less costly. However, it will be a link with Dargaville and a big district to the north of »\at town, including the kauri forest areas.
