FARMERS’ PART IN TRADE
STARTING-POINT AND FINISHING-POINT
Nature loves to work in circles. The sun draws up watery vapour from the sea, and this, after being condensed into clouds, drops on the land in tho form of rain, running back to the sea in rivers. A simple circle, without which the world as we know it could not exist. Industry can learn a useful lesson from nature, for. to give everyone the greatest benefit, it, too, should work in circles. Just as in the illustration taken from nature the sea is the starting point and also tho finishing point of tho circle, so in production is the farmer. He is the ultimate producer and tho ultimate consumer, and since, besides being a farmer, he is a citizen of New Zealand, with his welfare intimatelv bound up with that of the country, it is to his benefit if the chain is enj tirely a New Zealand one.
