BESSEDOWSKY’S LAST ALLEGATION MOSCOW TO CHARGE HIM United P.A, —By Telegraph—Copyright R.ecd. 10.3 a.m. PARIS, Monday. The Russian writer, M. Bessedowsky, asserts that the Soviet obtained (by the same method as was used to get the Italian code) the British Government’s Indian Office cede, and has since been able to translate all British code messages to India. Reed. 9.45 a.m. MOSCOW, Monday. M. Bessedowsky is to be prosecuted for theft and embezzlement. The Foreign Office refuses to comment on the allegations concerning the Italian and British secret codes.
M. Bessedowsky yesterday told the Press the manner in which the Soviet obtained the recently-stolen Italian secret code. He said an Italian attache at Berlin offered the code for £I,OOO to the Soviet Embassy at Paris. The Soviet official, under the pretence of a desire to verify its authenticity, borrowed the book, and photographed every page while the Italian waited in the next room.
