DEATH OF CHINESE
DRIVER’S COMPANION IN REMUERA SMASH OTHER MAN IMPROVING Pu Fing, companion of Wai Poi, the Chinese who ran his delivery van into a post in Remuera Road yesterday, died in the Auckland Hospital at 11.30 last night. Although he was jammed between the van and a tramway pole for 10 minutes after the accident, it was not at first believed that Pu Fing had suffered injuries that were likely to prove fatal, and the police report was that he had fractured his jaw in three places. Wai Poi, the driver of the van, received a severe cut over one eye and other injuries, but his condition is reported this morning as much improved. Pu Fing was a single man aged 19, and lived with Wai Poi above the shop of N. Fong Kee and Company at 13S Remuera Road.
