FIRE IN HOTEL
MATTRESS IN FLAMES (Special to THE SUN) WAIHI. Today. About 12.30 a.m. yesterday fire broke out in one of the bedrooms of the Sterling Hotel at Waihi. The occupants of the hotel were awakened by clouds of smoke, and it was found that the mattress of the bed occupied by Mr. James Baughan was on fire. The fire brigade was called out and the flames were put out with a patent extinguisher. The hotel is owned by Mr. W. Ellerington, who at present is visiting Australia.
