Mr*. L. R. Richardson, of Dunedin, k.rrlved today. Mr. J. R- Kalaugher, secretary of the Zealand Friesian Association, travelled South last evening. Mr. I>. C. Brake, of Whangarei, president of the Northland Trotting Club, is visiting Auckland. Chief Guido A. Brustad, of The Hermitage, Mount Cook, will leave New Zealand shortly 1q join the Byrd Antarctic Expedition. Mr. F. Beaumont Smith, managing director of J. C. Williamson Films (N.Z.). Ltd., arrived in Auckland on Saturday on a short business visit. lie is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. A. Boucher, managing-direc-tor of Speddinpr, Ltd., returned from a, trip to Norfolk Island this morning on the Maui Pornare. He was accompanied by Mrs. Boucher and Miss D. L. Boucher. The Hon. W. H. Triggs, M.L.C., who is on a visit to England, attended the annual conference at Portsmouth of the Institute of Journalists, of which is a Fellow, and a former vicepresident. Mr. Ed. G. Willems, export counsel to the Franklin Automobile Company, is sailing by the Port Melbourne for South America, having completed an extensive study of the New Zealand market. Commander Charles Ernest Hotham, rN-. has been appointed to the command of H.M.S. Laburnum, qf the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. Commander F. N. Attwood, R.N., present commander of H.M.S. Laburnum, will return to England shortly. The appointment is announced of Mr. H. W. Henry as representative in New Zealand for Franklin cars. Mr. Henry will take care of the organisation of Franklin dealers throughout New Zealand, and will be leaving early jn December on a hurried trip to the United States. HOTEL REGISTER Grand. —Mr. J. E.
