He also asked those present to pay the usual token of respect to the members of the club whose deaths had occurred since last season. It was with deep regret that the club had to record the deaths of Messrs. J. Hodgson, A. N. Snedden and A. Rowlands, who were very old and valued members of the club, and also Messrs. J. D. Kemp and L. Neale, who would also be greatly missed. The president paid a tribute to the work done by those responsible for the greens and said that with the greens in such good order an enjoyable season seemed assured. He paid a warm tribute to the work of the caretaker and the green-super-intendent and members had voluntar- ■ ily performed work to improve the greens. The many visitors were cordially welcomed by the president. On behalf of the Auckland Centre, Mr. J. M. Thomson congratulated the club on the success of its activities during the past year and expressed the hope that the present season would be even more successful. He also referred to the fact that the club : had raised about £l6O last year by its social activities, and commended the wives of members for their splendid work in the interests of the club. Bowlers throughout the province, he said, were to have a busy season with the visits of the Canadians in December and later of Taranaki playe**S; The centre was also arranging a visit this season to clubs round the East Coast, between Tauranga and Gisborne.
