DANGER OF FIRE
MEN SLEEPING IN CITY BUILDINGS OLD OFFENDER IN DOCK "The danger is that, in a halfdrunken state, he might set fire to some place," commented Sub-Inspector McCarthy when John Denehy appeared at the Police Court this morning charged with being found on enclosed premises. Denehy, a labourer aged 43, pleaded guilty. The premises were said to be situated at 24 Grey Avenue. According to the sub-inspector, Denehy had 87 previous -convictions mostly the result of taking drink. He was one of those men who wandered about town at night and in the early hours of the morning going to sleep in different places. There was no suggestion that he entered the premises with the intention of committing a crime. "I think Mr. Hunt knows him better than your worships,” said the sub-inspector to Messrs. R. T. Michaels and D. Donaldson J.P’s., who were on the bench. “I think we had better leave Mr. Hunt to deal with him then,” said Mr. Michaels, and Denehy was remanded until tomorrow'.
