PAPATOETOE DANCE
A GAY FUNCTION MULTI-COLOURED STREAMERS The final euchre and dance evening held in the Renown Hall, Papatoetoe, on Friday, under the auspices of the Papatoetoe Catholic Church, was a very gay and successful function. There was a large attendance of members of the church and their friends, who spent a pleasant evening dancing to the strains of Hanalin’s Orchestra. a The duties of M.C.’s were carried out by Messrs. C. Lambert, T. Piggin, J. Brewer and A. Roach. The hall was prettil3 r decorated with a canopy of multi-coloured streamers, from which hung coloured balloons. Winners of the roulette waltzes were: Mr. Perier and Miss Brewer; Mr. Docherty and Miss B. Boag; Mr. P. French and Miss L. Graham. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. Harvey and Miss P. Healy. A couple of pleasing extras were played by Miss F. Trimble. > Among those present were: Mrs. S. Piggin, who wore black georgette, with relief of lime silk; Mrs. Roach, sapphire blue crepe de chine; Mrs. J. B. Miller, patterned rayon silk frock; Mrs. P. Holmes (Wiri), sapphire blue crepe de chine; Mrs. H. Ratcliff e, carmine red crepe de chine frock; Miss G. Grinter, lichen green georgette; Miss E. Miller, sea green taffeta frock; Miss Dulce Grinter, shaded pink georgette, relieved with silver lame and dainty shoulder posy. Miss Pat Piggin chose a cyclamen lace period frock; Miss Gwen Holmes, frock of silver with ankle length godets of crepe de chine; Miss Joan Piggin, pompadour pink georgette period frock; Miss Rene Wotherspoon, ivory crepe de chine, with silver and pink trimmings; Miss Lulu Brewer, jade green taffeta and tulle, with uneven hemline. Miss L. Graham was in ivory crepe de chine, trimmed with hand-painted flowers; Miss M. Robinson, almond green georgette, with uneven hemline; Miss Alma Willis, Chinese blue crepe de chine, with shawl to tone; Miss J. Ratcliffe, •floral paterned crepe de chine; Miss D. Davidson, paon blue satin carreau, with silver corsage. Miss Phil Lyon chose lemon taffeta with uneven hemline and trimmings of sequins: Miss I. Ratcliffe, white silk elise; Miss Billy Boag, black crepe de chine, with gold trimmings and posy; Miss M. Lambert, lily of the valley shot taffeta and posy to tone; Miss F. Robinson, peach crepe de chine with silver trimmings; Miss E. Marsh, frock of mandarin blue crepe de chine, with uneven hemline: Miss Gladys McCauley, nile green georgette, with overskirt of gold lace; Miss Florence Trimble, flame crepe de chine, with diamente trimmings and uneven hemline; Miss Evelyn Tansey, powder blue ray de chine, with diamente trimmings.
