MILITARY TRAINING
NOT SUBJECT FOR CHURCH ARGUMENT DUNEDIN SESSION’S VIEW t From Our Own Correspondent DUNEDIN, Today. The sesison of the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church in Dunedin has expressed a somewhat unusual view in regard to the military service question, taking an attitude at variance with the general opinion of the church in New Zealand. The resolution which was passed is as follows: "That in view of the injury which is being inflicted on the Church by the tendency in certain quarters to encourage so-called conscientious objectors, the members of this session desire to place on record their conviction: (1) That while it is the duty of a Christian to strive earnestly for international peace, it is no less his duty to defend his country in case of necessity; (2) that national defence, being a matter for the expert, is not a subject with which the Church courts are qualified to deal.”
