MUNICIPAL CHOIR
ENJOYABLE CONCERT An enjoyable concert was given in the Town Hall on Saturday evening by the Municipal Choir and assisting artists. The choir was conducted by Mr. Maughan Barnett, city organist, who also contributed several pleasing solos. Tschaikowsky’s “Angel Spirits Ever Blessed” was the first number, and it received fine treatment. It was followed by the dainty little number arranged by West, “The Little Sandman.” Also very well received were “The Bells of St. Michael’s Tower.” and “Let Me the Canakin Clink” (McEwan). Next came the bracket, “In Sherwood Lived Stout Robin Hood,” “O Wert Thou in the Cauld Blast?” and “My Little Pretty One,” all sung with pleasing expression. Mr. Maughan Barnett first played Tschaikowsky’s “Andante Cantabile,” and then Boellmann’s “Toccata,” and Schubert’s “By the Sea.” Miss Lola Solomon was In good voice, and her numbers. "Drink to Me Only,” “Spreading the News” (Oliver), and “A Birthday” (Woodham), were well received. Miss Molly Wright was the other soloist. Her ’cello solos were Bargiel’s "Adagio,” "The Swan” (Palmgren). and "Piece en Forme de Habanera,” by Maurice Ravel. The three contributions were warmly applauded. Mr. Leo Whittaker was the accompanist.
