CONCERT BY WINNERS TONIGHT YESTERDAY’S RESULTS Yesterday saw the final contests in i the Auckland Competitions Society’s i festival in the Lewis Eady Hall. The { various judges thanked the officials j last evening for their help. Mr. Lance I Craig, of Hastings, who judged the { vocal section, paying a special tribute i to Miss Theo. Halpin, the official acj companist. A concert will be given by junior | prize-winners in His Majesty’s Theatre ! this afternoon, and by the senior winI ners this evening. The concert will not : be broadcast. On Monday evening j prize-winners who do not appear today j will perform, and the same programme j will include some of the winners of the Labour Day dancing competitions. Results of yesterday's contests are as follow: CHAMPION VIOLIN” SOLO (Open) “Legende” (Wieniawski) Miss Moya Cooper-Smith (St. Heliers Bay), S 6 points 1 Mr. Anthony Watt (Paremoremo), 72 2 Mr. Clyde F. May (Onehunga), 70 3 “With the exception of the winner, players were not up to championship j standard,” the judge remarked. “The winner gave a tine performance in the j afternoon and improved considerably in i the evening.
