The committee’s annual report stated that the year's transactions resulted in a very small profit compared with the previous year. This result was partially due to the fact that the total* isator returns were £ 440 less than last year, and the stakes provided £224 greater. There had also been a steady decline in recent years in the gate receipts, undoubtedly due to thS lavish issue of complimentary tickets. For the four vacant seats on the committee only the retiring committeemen have been nominated, and they were therefore elected. They are Messrs. TI. It. Bush. J. Clarkin, E. P* Fathers and F. E. Flatt. In discussing the issue of complimentary tickets the chairman stated that last year 5,648 people had passed through the turnstiles —only 501 men and 9S women paying for admission. On the second day 3,783 had passed through, 268 men and 12 women pay* ing. The secretary, Mr. H. Poland, explained that at the annual meeting o' country clubs in the Auckland district, strong disapproval had been expressed with the lavish issue ot complimentary tickets.
