THE FEDERAL ELECTION
LABOUR’S SAFE MAJORITY in the Federal election means that Mr. Scullin Leader of the Party, will succeed Mr. Stanley Bruce as Prime Minister. Mr. Theodore is Deputy Labour Leader. Mr. Bruce, whose Government suffered a severe defeat, was many votes behind his Labour opponent at Flinders, but his return is now certain. Mr. Hughes, who was principally responsible in the House for the defeat of the Government, has been returned with a big majority.
