Serge Lcbedeff. who takes the part of the Derviche in “Venus,” the Constance Talmadge picture coming here shortly, has to thank producer Louis Mercanton for a new career which has been opened up to him. Lebedeff was obliged to flee irom Russia during the revolution. A general in the Russian army, immensely wealthy as well as being high up in the diplomatic corps, he became a fugitive overnight, eventually arriving at°the Riviera, penniless, when a call for extras brought him to the Meicanton Studios in Nice.
