Glowing with colour, both musical and scenic, dramatic to the extreme, rilled with tender love passages alternating with the din of battle arid the clash of highly-strung temperaments, a virtual page out of history, the story of a love that was too great for life — these are features of the picture in which Corinne Griffith in the role of Emma. Lady Hamilton. presents a characterisation greater than any in which she has hitherto been seen. A fine programme of short talkie features is also being presented. The outstanding item is the appearance of Giovanni Martinelli, tenor of the New York Opera, who sings a solo from the opera “Aida” in his inimitable manner. Other attractions are the overture “Evolution of Dixie.” by tl r? Yitaphone Symphony Orchestra of GO players, conducted by Herman Heller, and banjoplaying by the American vaudevillian, Roy Sheck. “I loved the role of Tasia. It is the finest characterisation I ever had.” That is what Dolores Del Rio said about her part in “The Red Dane**.” so it is easily understood why she gave such an inspired performance. It is certainly the most colourful role i Miss Del Rio has ever portrayed, that of a Russian peasant girl who later 1 became the mysterious Red Dancer and leads the revolutionaries.
