DEATH OF MRS J. H. UPTON Ailing in health since the death of her husband a few months ago, Mrs. J. Ti. Upton, an old resident of Parnell died at her home in St. Stephen’s Avenue this morning. Mrs. Upton was married in 1870 and I ved for many years in Ponsonby. She was an ardent religious worker and member of All Saints’ Church, Pousonby, which she joined during the ministry of the Rev. W. Bree. Airs. Upton was also prominent in musical circles in the City and in her earlier years possessed a very fine voice. During the time that Air. Upton was mayor, Mrs. Upton was unremitting in her attention to her many social duties. The deceased was a sister of the late Mr. W. Gorrie, who was a partner of her husband. Mrs. Upton is survived by a family of five: Mrs. .1. M. Stevenson, Miss Upton. Mr. P. H. Upton, general manager of the South British Insurance Co., Mr. Parker T. Upton and Mr. William Upton.
