FOUR POPULAR JAMS

FROM N.Z. GROWN FRUIT Kvery housewife must admit that jam is an ideal article of diet, and an adjunct to any table at any time of the year. The only room for discussion is -what” jam. Now, the wonderful soil and climate of New Zealand helps to grow luscious iruits that for flavour are unrivalled, and are made into jam that is equal to any made in the world. For nearly half a century Messrs. Thomson and Hills have been making this beautiful fruit into their famous “Oak” jams, and from that long experience have intimate knowledge of what fruits and what manner of cooking makes the best jams. As a result their “Oak” jams are known and enjoyed from one end of the New Zealand to the other. With such excellent products always available, there should never be any need for New Zealanders to buy anything in the way of imported jams—especially as “Oak” brand is made in New Zealand, from New Zealand - grown fruit, and canned by New Zealanders, thus bringing prosperity both to our own orchardists and to our own town workers. Four of the leading “Oak” jams are: Strawberry jam, which is made from strawberries grown here in Auckland. There was a particularly good crop last season and the jam is correspondingly fine. ' Black currant jam, which is as useful for making hot drinks for the ’flu patient as for use in jam rolls. The black currants used are grown in the Motueka district, near Nelson. Raspberry jam, which is probably the most popular jam on the market. It is, of course, invaluable for cooking. Cape Gooseberry jam has a unique flavour and is a tasty jam of good colouring which should be more popular.
