OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL
Advice was received at Thursday’s meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council from the District Telegraph Engineer that the installation of a slot telephone is awaiting authorisation from the head office. With regard to a general automatic service, the engineer adhered to his former decision that the proposition is impracticable owing to the distance from the metropolitan automatic area. A request from the Tamaki Progressive League for the supply of a quantity of boulders and spoil for formation work in Pratt Street was referred to the Works Committee. A telegram was read from the Minister of Public Works advising that the question of an unemployment subsidy is being considered, and a decision would be reached at an early date ; When an application from the Zealand Society for the Protection Women and Children to hold a stre\* collection in Otahuhu on September \ was reads, Messrs.
