OTAHUHU GATHERING
RESIDENTS HOLD ANNUAL REUNION SOCIAL The annual reunion of residents of Otahuhu, held on Wednesday evening was a very successful function. Th* hall, which was daintly decorated with multi-coloured streamers and palms, was filled to capacity. The dance music was supplied by Mrs. F. Andrew, Messrs. Dinnison and Douglas. Mr. T. Clements, Mayor of Otahuhu. extended a cordial welcome to the large gathering, and later called on Mrs. Dixon, the oldest living resident of the district, who attended a dance in the hall 63 years ago, to receive a memento of her 1929 appearance. The duties of masters of ceremonies were carried out by Messrs. J. Gillies. W. H. Thorpe. H. Christini and G. V. Pearce. Voc.il solos were contributed by Mrs. Christini and Mr. A. Murdoch, and community singing was indulged in under the leadership of Mr. Pearce. WAIKATO NOTES Mrs. R. Hannon has returned to Cambridge from a visit to Chrletchurch. Mrs. A. Bond, who lias been on holiday in Auckland, has returned to Hamilton. Miss X. Tizard. of Hamilton, is spending a holiday in Auckland. Miss B. M. Campbell and Miss K. Madeley, of Hamilton, have left for Rotorua. Miss Dorothy Wilson, of Hamilton, is a visitor to Auckland. Mrs. F. Bullock, of Hamilton, i* spending a few weeks in Auckland, where her daughter, Miss Elise Bullock. intends training for karitane nursing. Miss K. Hogg has left Hamilton for the school vacation, which she will spend in Dunedin. Miss Olivo Dixon, wlio lias been relieving sports mistress at the Hamilton High School, was entertained by the staff at a pleasant morning tea before she left on Friday. Later the girls of ‘the school asked her to accept a little present from them in memory of her visit. Miss Clara Stevenson, who is leaving the staff of the Frankton school to be married, was presented by the teachers with a beautiful crystal jug* and later with a presentation from all the scholars, when she* left on Friday. SHAKESPEARE CLUB. On Wednesday evening the Hamilton Shakespeare Club gave a very bright reading of that amusing com* edy, "Dr. Knock,’* by Jules Remain?The Liverpool Street schoolroom was packed with listeners, who keenly enjoyed the amusing situations.
