A NORTHERN WHALER.—This is one of the whalers that is operated around Cape Bret, by a New Zealand company. This year marks the centenary of whaling in New Zealand. The first recorded shore station in the colony was established at Preservation Bay. in 1829, though several companies have operated since that time.
