OLD MEDALLION FOUND
interesting brass medal- “*■ lion fell out of an old chair at the Wynyard Arms Hotel, Wellesley Street, when it was being
broken up by the occupier, Mr. A E. Sainty, some weeks ago. About the size of a florin, the medallion was evidently struck to commemorate the opening of London Bridge in 1831 after it had been rebuilt. On the reverse side, embodying a solecism, is the inscription:—The First stone of the new London Bridge was laid by John Garratt. Esq.. Lord Mayor of London, on March 14, 1824, and opened by their Majesties, August 1, 1831.
