GRIM JEALOUSY CRIME
WOMAN KILLS MAN AND HER OWN CHILD SET COTTAGE ABLAZE SYDNEY, Thursday. A shocking tragedy was discovered this morning in a burning cottage near Woy Woy, a small town 45 miles north of Sydney. Neighbours extinguished the flames, and while they were so engaged discovered the bodies of a man, a woman and a child aged five. The man was Mr. F\ Allsop, a retired flour-miller, who formerly resided on the north coast, and the woman Mrs. White, aged 50, of Newcastle, who had been acting as his housekeeper! The police say they are convinced' that Mrs. White first shot Allsop and then, some hours later, shot the child and eventually killed herself in the same manner. Apparently she had set fire to the house beforehand. The woman’s body, with that of the child resting on one arm, was found in one room, and Mr. Allsop’s in another. The deceased man was regarded as quiet and inoffensive, without grievances. Mrs. White is described by the neighbours as having been a most peculiar person at all times, and of a morose disposition. A letter found in the house from another woman addressed to Mr. Allsop is thought to have been the motive for the tragedy.
