REDUCTION IN WAGES
COTTON EMPLOYERS WIN IN ARBITRATION A COMPROMISE AWARD (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The cotton Arbitration Court upheld the employers’ claim for 121 per cent, reduction in wages. The reduction will take effect from the second week in September. Later reports show that the court also approved of a reduction of 121 per cent, in the list of prices, -which is equivalent to 6.41 per cent, of the current earnings. The award therefore is a compromise, the employers receiving exactly half of what they demanded.
