The Rev. Dr. J. J. North left for ■Wellington by train last evening. Mr. J. Henrys, racing handicapper, arrived from the South this morning on the Limited. The Rev. J. H. Comrie was a passenger from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. R Shepard, of J. C. Williamson (N.Z.) Films. Ltd., arrived from Wellington this morning on the Limited. The Rev. Father Leen, of Hamilton, has been appointed parish priest at Coromandel. Mr. M. H. Wynyard. chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited. The Von. Archdeacon and Mrs. E. M. Cowie will leave Hamilton for Khandallah. Wellington, by the express this evening. Judge McCormick, of the Native Land Court, travelled by the Limited as far as Frankton Junction this morning. Mr. J. Brown, staff superintendent of railways, who has been visiting Auckland on departmental business, returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening. Lord Baden-Powell, the Chief Scout, has accepted the invitation of the New Zealand Boy Scouts’ Association to visit: the Dominion in 1930. The Rev. Father Leen, curate of the Roman Catholic parish of Hamilton, has been appointed priest in charge of the Coromandel parish, and will leave to take up his new duties next week. Messrs. A. M. Seaman, J. M. Elliffe and H. C.. Robinson, who represent the Auckland district on the council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, left for Dunedin by train Jast evening io attend the annual meeting. Wing-Commander S. Grant-Dalton, D. 5.0., A.F.C., who has been appointed Director of Air Services in New Zealand for a period of two years, left Southampton last Friday by the Tamaroa. Mr. E. J. Gifford, who has been clerk of the court at Tauranga for the last four years, has received notice of his promotion to a position in the head office of the Justice Department in Wellington. Mr. M. Simmonds, of Hamilton, will succeed Mr. Clifford. Mr. F. H. S. Ibbeston, who, for the last nine years has been chief clerk to the Public Works Department at Tauranga, has been transferred to Dunedin. His successor is Mr. J. D. Stock. Mr. S. G. Chaplin, of Hastings, who has been studying architecture in England for the past four years, has passed his final examinations for the Royal Institute of British Architects with distinction for his thesis on Maori ornamentation.
