UNEMPLOYED RELIEF
MORE WORKS LIKELY? MAYOR HOPES NOT “Is it proposed to prepare another schedule of unemployed relief works?” asked Cr. J. R. Lundon at last evening’s meeting of the City Council. fjpHE question cropped up when a suggestion from the Point Chevalier Business Men’s Association that an embankment be formed round the Point Chevalier waterfront was under consideration. The association was of opinion that the work might be undertaken as a relief scheme The Parks Committee recommended that the proposal be considered on the next schedule for unemployment relief, should a further schedule be necessary. To. Cr. Lundon the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, replied that he sincerely hoped no further relief works would be necessary.
