CRYSTAL PALACE, MT. EDEN

“GIVE AND TAKE” Tomorrow the Crystal Falaee will present an entirely new talking programme headed by “Give and Take,” a merry comedy with full dialogue, which stars George Sidney and Jean Hersholt. It is a film abounding in merriment, and the audience is kept bubbling with mirth during the time it is being screened. It deals with a canningfactory owned by an American Jew. whose lifelong friend and only son combine to impose upon the owner a democracy of industry. George Sidney plays the part of Albert Kruger, the lifelong friend, who becomes imbued with the idea that lie is to be the Moses, the Lincoln, or whatever it may be of the slaves who toil in the factory. By threatening John Bauer, the* owner, with a strike, he succeeds in obtaining his terms, and becomes secretary of state in the factory republic. It is then that things begin to move—and move quickly. Among other troubles that beset the new cabinet is the belief that they have sold the whole of their output to an escaped lunatic. Eventually, however, after many hilarious episodes, all comes right in the republic, and the secretary of state is only too pleased to relinquish his portfolio in order to become once more the henchman and friend of the owner. The musical accompaniment to the film is of a striking nature, and is in itself commendable entertainment for all music lovers.
