FIXTURE AT HASTINGS

HAWKE’S BAY HUNT CLUB HOLDS SWAY MODEST BILL OF FARE While the attention of Northern sportsmen will be focussed tomorrow upon Ellerslie, at least a cursory interest will be evinced in the Hawke's Bay Hunt Club's anannual meeting at Hastings. The southern club holds no pretentions :o be able to stage programmes such as are produced by the Waikato and Pakuranga Hunt Clubs, but if its card tomorrow is devoid of big prize money, it will at least attract a number of smart performers, particularly in the way of three-year-olds. Therefore the results will have Dominionwide interest, for the Bay can still turn out worthy performers able to hold their own with the best from other centres. Tomorrow the following horses promise to come in for keen backing:— Riverslea Hunters’ Hurdles.—Princess Elizabeth and Sunart. Park Hack Hurdles.—Peshwa and Raukaponga. Ok£-wa Maiden Plate. —Curtsey and Sunny Mint. H.B. Hunt Cup Steeplechase.—Askari and Alaric. Abbotsford Handicap.—Clever and Kaiti. Soutra Hunters' Handicap.—Abisogne and Acred. Horonui Handicap.—Sylvan Dell and Bold Front. A. E. Stratton will be the pilot of Sunart in his engagement at Hastings. Olympic will in all probability be ridden by M. H. Xicol, and Askari by A. McDonald, provided his services are not otherwise required. The amateur rider, Mr. Henry Dods. who won the Gisborne Hunt Club Cup on Ponjola, will again ride the Taunaha gelding tomorrow afternoon. A. Tricklebank will ride Princess Elizabeth, Royal Elm, and Woden. The acceptances are as follow for tomorrow’s card: Irt OA RIVERSLEA HUNTERS’ HURDLES Of £100; li miles.
