PROMINENT IN BUSINESS
Mr. H. E. Vaile, managing director of the firm of Samuel Vaile and Sons, land and estate agents, and auctioneers , has helped to build up one of the biggest businesses of its kind in the Dominion.
Born in Auckland, Mr. Vaile icas educated at the Auckland Grammar School. He joined the firm of Samuel Vaile and Sons early in his business career, and gradually acquired control. Many of the biggest property deals put through in and around the City of Auckland over the past quarter of a century have been handled by the firm. Few men have given more time to the social and civic affairs of the City of Auckland than Mr. Vaile. He was a member of the Epsom Road Board until that body amalgamated with the city; for four years he was president of the Auckland Society of Arts; he held the position of president of the Grammar Old Boys’ Association and has later occupied a seat on the Board of Governors; for many years he was a trustee of the Jubilee Institute for tlie Blind, holding the position as chairman for several terms; he i-s a trustee of the Auckland Savings Bank; he held a seat on the Auckland City Council for 20 years; as president of the Auckland Institute Museum he will see the consummation of many years of effort on 'November next when the War Memorial Museum is opened.
