LIQUOR SEIZED
POLICE RAID SHOPS NEARLY 300 BOTTLES Nearly 200 bottles of beer and a few dozen bottles of stout were seized by the police on Saturday evening when a raid was made on three small shops in Hobson Street. about 8.30 o’clock Sergeants Annis Thompson and Daly, eacTi accompanied by two constables, simultaneously raided the shops. There was a scatter when the police rushed in and the police wagon outside in the street acted like a magnet on passers-by. A large crowd soon collected and watched the liquor being removed. The proprietors of the shops will appear at the Police Court this week on charges of sly-grog selling.
