OLD MAN WITH BURGLAR’S KIT
USED FIVE NAMES After amassing extra names as the police find further charges against him, Robert Slade, who was arrested by Constable Whitehead a week ago, appeared again in the Police Court this morning. He was remanded for a further week. Slade, alias Henry Craig, alias ! Robert Colqulioun, alias George Edward Mahoney, alias Fred May, aged 67, made his original appearance in court on a charge of being found by night unlawfully in possession of housebreaking instruments. He now faces in addition two charges of breaking and entering—one in respect of a shop owned by Edward George Clark at 38 Pitt Street, where accused is alleged to have stolen two suits and three overcoats valued at £2O on July 6. The other deals with an allegation that Slade broke into a shop situated at 242 Hobson Street on July 21 with intent to commit a crime. “He has a lot more than this to face,” remarked Chief-Detective Hammond when asking for the remand.
